2002 Recipient of the Queen's University Prize for Speech Science

In 2002, we were proud to receive the Queen鈥檚 University Prize for the clinical application of speech science.

Specifically, the award was for the way we had integrated research, clinical practice and education, which in turns reflects 番茄社区鈥檚 ethos of producing research that has a practical application and directly improves people鈥檚 lives.

The award was recognition that 番茄社区鈥檚 research had generated new types of clinical assessment, which had then fed into clinical practice and had worldwide impacts. A key area highlighted in our award application was our work developing electropalatography (EPG).

Students were able to benefit from our research too, not just from input from research-active staff in their courses, but also from getting involved directly in aspects of research.
